Orogenesis is the geologic process of mountain building.

This process has shaped the western flanks of North America for millions of years—creating the majestic peaks, bubbling streams, and solemn forest groves that we love and cherish. The Orogenesis route winds through these landscapes, painting its story in front of your two wheels whether you’re riding all five thousand miles or just five.

Discussed and dreamed about around pints in small mountain towns for decades, the concept for a mountain bike trail that crosses state and international borders began building steam five years ago. Today in 2025, we are launching the first sections of the route that have been scouted, vetted, and probably cursed by dozens of scouts along its length.

We work with a multitude of trail organizations to identify collaborative stewardship opportunities as well as new trail projects that will enhance the connectivity of the route as well as increase the overall length of singletrack. Time and time again we have seen and experienced the transformational qualities trails can have on people's lives, and are proud to be developing this interactive novel of the western landscapes to share with anyone curious enough to challenge themselves.
