After our success reopening the Klickitat Sisters #7 trail, we’re turning our handlebars towards another gem of the Gifford Pinchot: Quartz Creek Trail. About 12 miles south of the Klickitat ridge lies the mysteriously named Dark Divide, a notoriously remote, steep, and deep section of the Boundary Trail. (actually just named after a dude named Dark, but let’s stick with the mysterious) In order to connect farther south to the Lewis River Trail there are several rutted moto trails or road descents, but the most obvious link on a map is the Quartz Creek trail. This trail epitomizes the Dark Divide with ancient old growth, one of the tallest waterfalls in the state, and very challenging access. This non-motorized trail needs clearing, brushing, and tread repairs.
We need volunteers of all sorts: sawyers primarily, but also swampers, brushers, and dirt worshipers. NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED—we can find a valuable role for you. Drop us a line if you have any questions.
This Stewardship Campout is a joint effort with the Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance.
